Dear JET alumni,

The 2006 Japanese Language Proficiency Test will take place on Sunday December 3, anticipating approximately 400 examinees.

This year, the test is administered by the Japanese Program at Simon Fraser University Harbour Centre. The program director is Toshimi Ono san, who have helped and advised many of us. A call for volunteer proctors is made from Ono san to the JET alumni community. Ono san is currently on medical leave. She sends her sincere thanks for your attention and support.

12 ~13 volunteer proctors are needed.

You must be:

  • available for an orientation and training on November 25 (Saturday afternoon) for about 2~3 hours at Harbour Centre, AND
  • available on December 3 (Sunday) from 8am - 6pm, at Harbour Centre AND
  • not taking the test yourself this year, AND
  • must keep the content of the exam and examinees information confidential, AND
  • responsible and professional.
  • knowledge of Japanese language is not necessary
  • you will be paired with a Japanese assistant

This is a great opportunity to observe and be involved in the administration of this prestige exam.

  • your name
  • if you were a JET (or non-JET)
  • when and where were you in Japan
  • have you taken the JLPT (noryuku shiken) before
  • are you available both days (Nov. 25 and Dec. 3)
